Days Hike to Mtae Usambara
A fantastic
which combined walk several attractions such
as forests a home of black and white
Columbus monkeys, traditional villages, view
points, visit to a pottery women group, get
informed about the history of Chief of
Wshambaa, learn the life style of Shambaa
people as the main tribe in Usambara
Mountains. Mtae village is situated at the
edge of the mountain, being there you
possibly overlooking Mkomazi Game reserve,
Maasai plains, and on clear days you can see
Kiliamanjaro ,Tsavo National Park in Kenya,
and Taita Hills in Kenya
DAY-ONE 6-7HRS
The tour starts by driving from Lushoto to
Magamba village where you start walking
through Magamba fain forest the home of
black and white Columbus monkeys, flowers,
birds, with more up and down hills to the
village of Lukozi.

DAY- TWO 4-5 HRS
Walk from Lukozi through traditional
villages, good view, farming lands to Rangwi
Convent.

DAY- THREE 4-5 HRS
From Rangwi walk through traditional
villages and learn about typical traditional
life style of washambaa, forests, pottery
women group to Mtae a World view point with
spectacular views overlooking Maasai plains,
Mkomazi game reserve, Tsavo west in Kenya
and on clear Kilimanjaro can be seen on the
horizon. Also is a good place for viewing
sun rise and sunset.

DAY-FOUR 7-8 HRS
A longest day which stars by driving to Goka
village for at least half an hour to the
beginning of the forest, traditional
villages, pottery women to Mlalo.

DAY FIVE-5-6 HRS
Drive to Mkuzi village about two hours then
walk to the Mkuzu waterfall which situated
inside the forest then after enjoying the
waterfall walk back to Muller’s Lodge for
overnight.

DAY SIX- 5-6 HRS
Drive from Muller’s Lodge to Kwesimu village
then start walking to Irente Farm and the
view point, a famous view point in Usambara
with amazing views overlooking Mazinde
village almost 1,000meters below the vast
Maasai plains, beyond.On the way back stop
by Irente farm for lunch which includes home
made cheese, jam juice, butter, brown bread
and seasonal fruit then walk or drive back
to Lushoto for overnight.
